Awards and Accolades
Kia is all about quality. In fact, we’re so into quality, we’ve won the prestigious J.D. Power Initial Quality award for two years running; that’s unprecedented for a non-luxury brand. It’s a fact (and a bit of a brag) that we’re offering the nation’s best built cars and SUVs. By comparison Volkswagen is ranked #11.
The VW Atlas is a brand new vehicle, so there’s not much to compare. If you’re looking for cold, hard facts… Well, the Sportage ranked 1st in its segment in 2016 and 2nd in 2017, allowing the Kia Niro, a Guiness World Record holder for lowest fuel consumption of a hybrid, to have the top spot. We know how impressive that sounds, but let’s take it a few steps further. The Sportage also took home the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick” in 2016, 2017, and 2018. It’s a Kelly Blue Book “Top 10 Most Awarded Vehicle,” Autotrader “Must Test Drive,” and an Edmunds “12 Best AWD Small SUVs.”
Kia offers a standard 5-year 100,000km full comprehensive warranty and 5-year Unlimited km Roadside Assistance giving you peace of mind over and above Kia’s consistently proven quality. That is a full year of additional warranty and roadside assistance over Volkswagen’s 4-year 80,000 km warranty and 4-year Roadside Assistance.
While there are similarities between the VW Atlas trim lines and the Kia Sportage and Sorento, Kia has you covered in the lower trim levels with basic features like fog lights and heated seats. You won’t have to move up much higher to find great features like leather seating, blind spot detection with rear cross traffic alert, and a beautiful full panoramic sunroof.
If you’re in the market for an SUV, you may be looking for more roar than purr under the hood and Kia doesn’t disappoint. While the Volkswagen Atlas comes equipped with a 2.0 turbo that puts out 235 HP and a maximum 3.6 L V6 producing 276 HP, it just doesn’t match up. The Kia Sorento offers an awe inspiring 3.3 L V6 and a massive 290 HP with available 2.0 turbo 245 HP. The Sportage is no couch potato in the power department either, with its 2.0 turbo 237 HP engine. Although the Sportage and Atlas come close to one another in power, the Atlas does not offer an AWD model in its 2.0 turbo model; while both the Sorento and Sportage will keep you driving safely in the winter months with its available AWD in all trim levels (standard in Ex and Sx models).
Quality, safety, power, and convenience; the Kia Sportage and Sorento have it all with the awards to back it up! So why why not book a test drive so you can feel the Kia advantage today?
