Ford Escape vs. Kia Sportage and Sorento

The Sorento holds true to the Kia quality standard and slogan “the power to surprise” taking the #1 IQS spot away from the competition in 2017 (moving up from #2 in 2016). While being an award winner of IIHS “Top Safety Pick” for the last two years, the Sorento has also been accredited with a 5-star Safety Rating from the (NHTSA) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (2016-2017), a Red Dot Design Honorable Mention Award in 2016, and the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada’s (AJAC) “Best New SUV” in 2016.

Warranty

Kia offers a standard 5 year 100,000 km full comprehensive warranty and 5 year unlimited km roadside assistance giving you peace of mind over and above Kias consistently proven quality. That is a full 2 years and 40,000 km warranty over Ford’s 3 year 60,000 km warranty.

Equipment

Find comfort in your Sportage with heated front and rear seating and optional air cooled front seats. You can enjoy your favorite apps and navigation with the Apple carplay/Android auto smartphone integration, and feel safe behind the wheel with the autonomous emergency braking keeping a second pair of eyes on the road; bringing your Sportage to a complete stop in the event of an emergency.

The Kia Sportage features a gorgeous panoramic sunroof and 1st row express. No matter the weather, you’ll be able to open/close everything up with the touch of a button. If you’re expecting to locate these features on the Ford Escape without some pricey upgrades, you might get lost.

Now not everyone wants or needs the cream of the crop when it comes to optional features and trims; however some things should just come standard. For example both the Sportage and Sorento are fitted with standard fog lights, alloy wheels, heated mirrors, heated front seats and built in Sirius XM with 3 months free subscription. When placed against these 2 giants in a bare bones race, the Ford will want to Escape.

The Sorento accompanies the Sportage nicely, sharing premium features like Kia’s signature LED Ice Cube fog lights. Be worry free with the distance pacing smart cruise and traffic stop and go. With this, you won’t have to worry about hitting that cancel button on your cruise control as it monitors the vehicles ahead of you. With an available 7 passenger capacity seating, the Sorento shows it’s superiority and versatility while also offering an optional plush and premium grade leather, as well as an even classier upgraded nappa leather.

Performance

If you’re looking for some hauling power, look no further. The Kia Sorento comes equipped with an available 3,500 lbs of towing and a maximum 5,000 lbs capability. Need an  extra boost of power? Fire up the 3.3 L V6 Sorento and soar across the highway utilizing the impressive 290 hp behind that wide standing tiger nose. The Ford Escape shares a 2,000 lbs towing capacity with the Kia Sportage and comes equipped with a maximum 2.0 turbo 245 hp engine.

So if you’re shopping the SUV segment for the perfect vehicle there’s no doubt you’ve landed on a couple of winners, literally, with Kia’s Sportage and Sorento!
