At Wheaton Kia, our prices for tires, seasonal tire changes, and tire storage are already competitive, and it’s a standard with every seasonal tire change for our factory-trained team to perform a 41-point inspection to make sure your car is safe and ready for winter. That said, a lot of people only get their tires changed after the first snowfall, leading to a lot of backed-up appointments and unsafe driving throughout early-winter, so as part of our Early-Bird special, we’re offering an additional complimentary wheel alignment check, and a free 3.78 L bottle of all-season washer fluid with any seasonal tire change we perform from October 12th until October 23rd! *

To get some information on the importance of changing tires for winter, I had an elucidating conversation with Josh Phair, our Parts Manager.

“It’s a pretty common misconception that all-season tires cut it for the harsh weather in Regina. All-seasons work great in places like California,” says Josh, “but it just gets too cold here.”

Josh went on to explain how tires designed for winter are made of softer rubber that grips the road better, and how the process of switching to winter tires often involves using smaller rims with taller tires to ensure the most-optimal traction and minimal wear.

Softer tires have better grip in general, but it’s especially noticeable in autumn and winter. When temperatures dip anywhere below 7°C, even the rubber in all-season tires begins to harden, making them much worse at clinging to the road. This severely affects your ability to start and stop moving. To be honest, this is the kind of things I didn’t know the specifics of, even after 10+ years of owning a car!

When discussing the early-bird special with Service Manager Trevor Gartner, he described how difficult it was to come up with a promo that beats Wheaton Kia's existing deals.

“Our prices are already competitive with (or better than) just about everywhere else in the city,” says Trevor, “so it’s tough to figure out how we can go even further with our offers.” The decision ultimately came down to what we’d find the most fun to perform, so we landed on complimentary wheel alignment checks, and customized bottles of washer fluid to give away.

The front bottle label was designed in-house by me! As someone who hasn’t had the opportunity to design product packaging in years, this was extremely fun to be part of. And if you book your seasonal tire change between October 12th and 23rd, you can have one for yourself!
