What IS the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS)?
You’ve likely heard us bragging a wee bit over on our social media that we’ve won the top spot in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey for the second year in a row. So what’s it all about?
The J.D. Power IQS is based on responses from almost 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2017 vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. It’s a 233 question survey designed to identify problems in 8 specific categories and drive product improvement. For over 31 years, the IQS has been an early indicator of long-term vehicle quality; the lower the score, the higher the quality.
OK, But Why Is That Important?
Well, it’s important because it shows how hard Kia has been working to improve our vehicles for our customers. As a result, we were the first non-luxury brand in 27 years to take the first place spot in 2016. Not only did we take the lead in industry performance (two years in a row!), five of our models were recognized with individual awards in 2017: the 2017 Kia Soul in the Compact Multi-purpose Vehicle category for the third year in a row; 2017 Kia Sorento in the Midsize SUV segment; the 2017 Kia Forte in the Compact Car segment; 2017 Kia Cadenza in the Large Car segment; and the brand new 2017 Kia Niro in the Small SUV segment.
While there are plenty of things to consider when purchasing a new vehicle, quality should probably top that list. Kia is outperforming industry standard by 25 PP100, and there’s no telling where we’ll land next year. Choose a Kia for its strong performance, high safety ratings, and stunning appearance; choose a Kia because number one in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey means you’ll be riding in a vehicle with longevity.
Outstanding Quality, Outstanding Warranty
Top-quality performance means we can offer our customers an industry leading 5-year comprehensive warranty. While we’re confident in the award winning quality of our vehicles, there’s no need to sacrifice your own peace of mind. Read more about the Kia Warranty here!
